This Chamber is as per International Energy Agency (IEA). Mold growth at a surface depends on the moisture available at the surface, typically referred to as the water activity. The water activity denotes the amount of free (rather than bound) water available for mold growth at the nutrient surface. It depends on the water available within the surface as well as within the surrounding air (but only indirectly), and differs for different materials and different fungi. It is not the same as the moisture content of the surface material. All microorganisms have a level of water activity they prefer to grow within, including lower limits for growth. Growth depends on the surface relative humidity (the RH of the air directly in contact with the surface rather than in the ambient air), the surface temperature and the so-called “time-of-wetness,” or “TOW.” The TOW represents the fraction of time (ranging between 0 and 1) during which the relative humidity in the immediate vicinity (or microenvironment) of the fungus is above a threshold level for growth. The temperature of a surface is often quite different from that in the ambient air, so the relative humidity of the air right at the surface is then distinctly different from the value in the indoor air. For example, during the winter in cold climates, the inner surface of an exterior wall can be notably colder than the ambient indoor air, especially at thermal bridges, such that the relative humidity of air right at the surface is considerably higher than that of the ambient air. In fact, we know from mould research that, with very high RH, mould may germinate on a substrate after a fairly short time. In other words, we have to introduce a time scale in the RH judgement.” “Basically, if the mean inside RH is over a week rather than a month, then the minimum RH increases to 89%, whereas if the mean inside RH is over one day then the minimum RH is 100%.” The conditions for growth included a surface RH condition based on the surface temperature, as well as a duration of that RH condition (guidance on duration was generally ignored prior to that time). Thus, time is a key factor. Moreover, the threshold value was presented as independent of temperature, fungal species and type of material. Eurotherm (UK make) Programmable microprocessor PID controller for temperature with digital display powerful PID, no of programs & segments each could be stored in ramp & soak period settable in hours & minutes. No of loops provided for re-appear the program. Control readout of actual and set-point values & calibration capability for actual and set values. PC communication with user friendly software. RS 232/485 communication port provided for operating the chamber through PC as well as data logging facility. Tubular display & graphical display provided with complete history printing & storing facility.

Refrigeration system for Mold Growth Chamber

Always set the fan mode switch of your air conditioner thermostat in the AUTO position, never in the ON position. Why? When set to the ON position the blower fan runs continuously and the moisture which has condensed on your air conditioner’s evaporator coil during cooling is re-evaporated and blown back into your home before it can drain off the coil and out of your home. This causes the relative humidity in your home to be significantly greater than if the air conditioner thermostat fan mode switch is set to the AUTO position. Even in the “auto” position, some air conditioners run the blower for 1-3 minutes after the compressor shuts off. To maximize dehumidification, it is best to disable this feature. A qualified mechanical contractor should be able to disable this feature so that the blower and compressor turn off simultaneously. Single or Cascade system. Compressors: Bitzer/GEA Hermetic or semi hermetic. Sealed compressor will be provided for low temperature. The compressor used in the system is Emerson. Liquid receiver & Filter (Danfoss-Denmark), well balanced Hi cool (CE approved Condenser fan with safety grill)

Humidification system

The humidification system will be of steam humidifier with Low-pressure moisture generator provided in built with chamber construction. It will be located inside ducting place and top opened steam exhaust through air circulation. The steam generation is very fine mist circulating throughout the work space and will be condensed free vaporization. 2.0 KW wet heater will be using to achieve maximum RH limit. The wet Heater operating power will be driven through the opto isolated solid-state relays. It is operating gradual % of PID output so that current efficient not decrease for power fluctuation during the operation.
