The purpose of this test is to determine the ability of the PV module to withstand the effect of long-term penetration of humidity. PV modules are subjected to temperature 85°C and relative humidity 85 % for 1000 h in the climatic chamber. Damp heat tests, cold tests and temperature & humidity cycling tests combining individual tests are fundamental types of development, quality assurance and reliability testing.
In addition to development tests and reliability tests, the temperature chambers used for these tests are also widely used for heat treatment processes such as temperature aging and humidity control on production lines, and screening tests on test lines. ESPEC’s test facilities can also be used to research and develop production and test technologies. Damp heat, steady state. Describes a continuous test at a steady temperature of 40°C and a relative humidity of 90-95%. The standard test duration is 4 to 56 days. The PV Damp Heat Test is an accelerated environmental aging test that determines the ability of the solar panel to withstand long-term exposure to high temperature and penetration of humidity. The damp heat test is performed by applying 85°C ± 2°C with a relative humidity of 85% for an uninterrupted cycle of 1,000 hours, which is well over 1 month. The to-be-tested solar panel is for this purpose placed in a damp heat test chamber in which the panel is exposed to these conditions. This test particularly challenges the lamination process of the PV module and the edge sealing from humidity. The peel strength of the PV modules that are laminated according to the traditional lamination process is decisive. There are some problems which can be found through Damp Heat Test. Some of them are listed below:-

Corrosion

De-Lamination

Junction box and module connection failures

Damp heat testing is part of the IEC 61216 standard for crystalline solar panels, and IEC 61646 for thin film panels. Surprisingly the test is not part of the UL 1703 standard, as UL is solely focused on safety. The Damp Heat test is considered the most difficult test to pass during a certification process.

To know more about Damp heat test chamber please visit us at www.kelviron.in

Damp Heat Test Chamber Damp heat Test is performed according to IEC 61215 and IEC 61646.
